Chinese Architecture: This session introduces both traditional and modern Chinese architecture. Architecture, like a mirror, reflects the country’s geographical diversity and nationality. Classic Chinese architecture usually seeks harmony with Fengshui, i.e. the local surrounding and ecology, and thus has many unique features in terms of layout, structure and decoration. Modern Chinese buildings, like the Bird’s Nest Stadium, the Suzhou Museum, the petal-like Hangzhou Olympic Sport Center are also presented in this session, and students will be exposed to mosaic diversity and wisdom of Chinese architecture.
Chinese Transportation: This session introduces the development of Chinese transportation and giant projects, like the Grand Canal, the national high-speed railway network, the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, and the Tibetan Railway. As one of the engines of China's economy, the improvement of transportation bridges the gaps between regions and serves common prosperity. In this session, you will have the chance to take a close look at the fruit of intelligent transport system in Hangzhou, as it is building itself into a digital pioneer city.
Digital China: This session consists of two parts. The first part is about China’s digital revolution agriculture, manufacture, service industries and city management. As a national model in digital economy, Hangzhou has developed a Smart City management system. In this session, we will take a look at how this system works, how it improves public services, how it serves the city traffic, and how it helps maintain cultural heritages.
The second part is about China’s booming digital economy and how it affects people's lives. It will be illustrated that here in China, from housewives living in remote countryside to shrewd brokers competing in downtown metropolitan, everyone is connected by apps like WeChat and Tik Tok; and that businesses big and small, couldn’t do without digital payments like Alipay and WeChat Pay. Thanks to the development of information technologies and many specialized apps, we can now run errands like grocery shopping, ride hailing and booking visits and checks in hospitals on smart phones. So are many administrative procedures, like filing for birth certificate, renewing driver’s licence, applying for colleges and mortgages - no more visits in person, no more waiting in lines, and more importantly, no more red tapes. In this session, you will be invited to watch the functions of Alipay, the Hangzhou-based world leading digital player, and see for yourself how it transforms our way of life as well as our way of doing business.
